School Emblem

THE COMPASS – Serves as a valuable instrument in navigation since time immemorial. It helps the navigator to stay on his planned course and determine his bearing. M.A.T.E. Senior High School serves as the compass to aspiring merchant marine or coast guard officers to train, educate or even lend a cable tow as they progress in their voyage as future conquerors of the seven seas.

LIFEBUOY – Is designed to be thrown into the water to provide buoyancy and prevent drowning. In the same way, the lifebuoy in our school’s emblem is to indicate that M.A.T.E. Senior High School serves as a lifeline to aspiring seafarers. The quality maritime training and education that the school provides will help keep them afloat as they swim towards their goals of becoming a ship captain, chief engineer, or coast guard officer.

THE CROSS ANCHORS – Is the long-standing symbol of the merchant marine profession but commonly associated with Deck department. The powerful anchor, albeit small in size, is the one holding the entire ship against changing currents. M.A.T.E. Senior High School believes that proper training and education is the most stable foundation that will hold one’s ambition within reach.

TRANSVERSE VIEW OF A SHIP – Looking dead ahead of the school’s emblem, you will see the silhouette of a ship which includes the hull and the accommodation block. The silhouette signifies that M.A.T.E. Senior High School is specifically geared in preparing its students to work onboard a ship as seafarers.

THE PROPELLER – Is known in the merchant marine profession as the undeniable symbol of marine engineers. Without the propeller the ship would not be able to make headway.  At M.A.T.E. Senior High School, the students are being trained and educated not just on nautical subjects but also in marine engineering matters. This will better prepare them in their future roles as Ship Captains, Chief Marine Engineers or Coast Guard Officers.
